25 ans d’utlisation d'un outil génial

J’ai acheté la première version de ce coupe-branches en l’an 2000 dans un salon-exposition de Genève. Et je l’emploie très régulièrement depuis lors (25 ans, donc), pour rabattre les haies, tailler les arbres fruitiers, préparer du petit bois de feu, tailler en pointe des tuteurs pour le potager, ou encore réduire la longueur des branchages directement dans le container des déchets verts, afin d’en faire entrer un maximum.
Cet outil est vraiment intelligemment conçu. Il allie deux caractéristiques très pratiques. Premièrement, la crémaillère: elle permet de couper une branche de gros diamètre, en serrant et écartant plusieurs fois les deux bras de l’outil; à chaque manoeuvre la lame mord davantage le bois qui finit par se couper nettement et sans effort. Deuxièmement, la longeur des bras réglables "à la volée": cela permet non seulement d’adapter en 2 secondes la force de levier de l'outil à la résistance du bois que l’on taille, mais aussi de modifier très rapidement la longueur des bras lorsqu’on est pris dans l'enchevêtrement d’un buisson ramifié dont certaines branches gênent les mouvements d’écartement.
Je viens d’acheter un second coupe-branches. Non pas parce que l’autre était en fin de vie, mais parce que je craignais de ne pas retrouver cet outil génial en cas de perte ou de dégâts. Par rapport à l’ancien modèle, les bras de section carrée de la nouvelle version transmettent mieux la force à la lame. Le système d’allonge des bras est différent, mais tout aussi pratique.
